The Taranaki Fashion Art Awards
The Taranaki Fashion Art Awards first event was in 2001 at the TSB Showplace and was initially envisaged as a way to develop a major Taranaki Event which builds a proud sense of community and encourages visitors to the province for the economic benefit of our district. The fashion art award show is Taranaki wide and community based event, that allows an opportunity for the young and not so young fashion art designers throughout the whole of Taranaki and many other areas of New Zealand, to showcase their talents by designing and assembling garments using a range of recycled fun and funky fashion materials. It also gives the opportunity for Dancers, Singers, Aspiring Models, Hairdressers and Makeup Artists to take part in a large production. Organised and produced by the ”Taranaki Fashion Art Award Charitable Trust” attracting entries of 150 plus garments each year and playing before an audience of 2000 this annual showcase has become an iconic event, being a much anticipated production in the Taranaki Arts Calendar.
